Mavillette Beach

Mavilette Beach
Mavillette Beach is located in Digby County

History

In conjunction with the Municipality of Clare, the NSLS began supervising Mavillette Beach in 2001. The beach is supervised on weekends only.

Facilities

Mavillette has outdoor change houses, toilets, a parking area and boardwalks to access the beach. There is nearby restaurant and motel.

Beach Safety

If patrons go further down towards the third set of stairs, there are strong rip currents, so the guards advise patrons not to swim there. The 200m supervised area is marked with flags that are placed between the first and second stairways coming from the restaurant located at the top of the hill. This area is on a big sandbar and is the safest place for patrons to swim. The supervised swimming area is marked by red and yellow flags on either side of the beach. The water temperature ranges from 11-16 degrees and there is usually surf up to about 4 feet when the tide is on its way in. The tide at Mavillette goes out about 800m.
